Added: March 9, 2015

A lot has been happening in the online casino industry already in 2015, but this section will focus mainly on some of the highlights from the industry in February and March 2015. Lots of fun new online casino games arrived, Casino Euro had a makeover, the ICE Totally Gaming exhibition and the International Gaming Awards both took place in London and details about several currently unreleased slots were released.

At this year’s International Gaming Awards, Playtech won the iGaming Software Supplier award for the second year in a row, Mr Green Casino won the Online Casino Operator of the Year award for the third year in a row and Net Entertainment (NetEnt) won the Slot Provider/Supplier Product of the Year award.

“To walk away with the Slot Provider/Supplier Product of the Year for both online and land based is a superb achievement. Our mission is always to provide leading edge online casino solutions and we’re honoured to be recognized for our hard work,” said Per Eriksson, President and CEO of NetEnt. We managed to obtain these words from the official NetEnt website.

At this year’s ICE Totally Gaming exhibition, some of the biggest names in the online gambling industry showcased their latest technology and previewed several new games. Microgaming announced that it will be releasing a new branded slot machine called Bridesmaids which is based on the 2011 Universal Pictures movie of the same name. This new slot has multilevel bonus round with 5 reels and 40 winning paylines and it will arrive in casinos in August.

We obtained the following comments from a recent Microgaming press release: “Bridesmaids is a comedy classic! The storyline, characters and genuinely hilarious stand-out scenes combine to make it one of the most successful comedy films of all time. We’re thrilled to have signed another licensing agreement with Universal. Furthermore, the brand adds a completely new dimension to our branded game portfolio – we’re excited for its launch later in the year.”

Microgaming also launched two new slots in February which included Golden Era (5 reels and 15 winning paylines) and Cricket Star (5 reels and 243 ways to win per spin). This award-winning online casino software provider also then went on to release the two new slots on Wednesday 4th March called Lucky Leprechaun (5 reels and 20 winning paylines) and Golden Princess (5 reels and 25 winning paylines).

In February 2015, Net Entertainment launched a new slot called Steam Tower. “Steam Tower is packed full of innovative developments and progressive features that NetEnt are renowned for. The Victorian era is synonymous with advancement and improvement, which reflects our own mission to drive the online casino market forward,” said NetEnt’s Chief Product Officer Simon Hammon. These comments came directly from the NetEnt website. NetEnt will also be launching another new online slot machine in March called Spiñata Grande (5 reels, 40 winning paylines and ‘colossal symbols’).

The latest slot in February from IGT Interactive was a slot called Prowling Panther and then a few weeks later this company added another slot called Siberian Storm to its range of ‘wide area’ MegaJackpots progressive jackpot slot machines. Realtime Gaming launched the third instalment in a series of The Three Stooges slot machines and several more new slots will also be arriving soon.

For example Microgaming will be launching a new online slot called Rabbit in the Hat (5 reels and 9 winning paylines) and this will arrive at some point in April. Also keep an eye out for new HD slots from Microgaming which are available now or coming soon. Some of these include Loaded HD, Secret Admirer HD, Avalon HD and Carnaval HD.
